FINAL REHEARSAL WAS GREAT!
The Final rehearsal for REAR VIEW was awesome. We hammered out the final scene and have made it into a perfect climax for the film. There will be a couple of little get togethers to tighten up spots, but the main scenes have been hashed out. Really looking forward to getting it on film. Dave Martorano and I are going to sit down with the footage and see if there is anything that we missed, needs tightening, but wow! Really impressed with how everyone came together and worked hard to realize the ending to it's fullest. Will have a bit of the footage up on the site from the Rehearsal, but just a little, don't want to give away the end of the film at all. So expect to see that soon.
Now we are putting schedules together and figuring out our first shooting weekend. We have several people to consider when scheduling so, this will be a bit tricky, but we want to work with everyone to make the film with everybodys time in mind.

SPOTLIGHT on DAVE MARTORANO

Dave Martorano - Actor/ Assistant Director
DAVE plays DETECTIVE JOHN HARRISON the Lead Actor in REAR VIEW ( Formerly DISTORTION ) He is a very talented, hard working Actor that is breaking in to the business. The few parts he has done show his versatility and the newest role in REAR VIEW is sure to garner him some well deserved attention. He is also a tremendous assest to me, as the Assistant Director on this shoot. He has been really diving into all the roles and helping get everyone on track with how we they should be played. He has been awesome in rehearsals, tossing in ideas that have helped better the film, and is all about making the best product he can.
Favorite Movies: Unforgiven, Jaws, Braveheart, Goodfellas…I could be here for hours.
Favorite Line from a Film: “It’s a hell of a thing killin’ a man, ya take away all he’s got and all he’s ever gonna have.” Clint Eastwood (William Munny) from Unforgiven
Background:
Actor:
Distortion – Lead Male – Det. John Harrison 2008
The Ugly’s – 2007
The Last Job – Lead Character, M. Marso 2005
Hamlet falls for Shira – Lead, Hamlet – 2003
GOAL: Contribute directly to and make films that move the audience members. The last thing I want my audience to think or say when they see my movie is that “It was OK”. I want them to either LOVE it or HATE it, but MOVE them one way or the other, whether by my direct performance or contribution otherwise in the story or direction.

KELLIE KARL plays SHARON RICHFIELD the Lead Actress in REAR VIEW ( Formerly DISTORTION ) She is very talented in many different ways, as an Actress, Comedian, and Hypnotist. Here is Kellie's BIO, this is one Lady that fits any role perfectly, take a look...
Favorite Movies: Anything Spielberg anything Meryl Streep, suspense dramas, comedy...it varies depending on my mood!
Favorite Line from a Film: [Describing a "reaction" to an encounter with the bullies] Ralphie as Adult: [narrating] "Randy lay there like a slug! It was his only defense!" THE funniest line in a movie...EVER!!
BACKGROUND: Actress/Singer/Dancer/Comedy Hypnotist
Kellie Karl is more than just any Las Vegas entertainer--actress, singer, comedy hypnotist and certified hypnotherapist--Kellie has raised the bar when it comes to multi-talented, multi-faceted performers.
Kellie is wowing audiences with her unique blend of comedy and hypnotic skills and is currently performing in "The Outrageous Comedy Hypnosis Show" at Las Vegas' legendary Riviera Casino, and in “The Soprano’s Last Supper", playing Tony Soprano’s sexy psychiatrist Dr. Melfri.
Kellie has appeared on several stages in Las Vegas and throughout the US, including the role of featured singer and dancer in the “Sin City Angels Revue” at The Sahara, the role of Sadista in “Shock,” a Stevie Nicks impersonator in the “Hail! Hail! Rock n Roll” show, and as Chickie Parmesan, the lead actress and singer in the interactive dinner show “BaDaBing.” Kellie has also appeared in several musicals, including “The Taffetas,” “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” and “Swing, Jazz and Jump!” She has had the privilege to perform with notable artists, such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Three Dog Night, The Village People, The Coasters, The Rockettes, Chubby Checker, Aerosmith, Aaron Neville and the Neville Brothers.
Kellie’s talent is certainly not limited to the stage. She has appeared in a number of television commercials, music videos, and in popular shows such as MTV’s “My Super Sweet Sixteen,” the History Channel’s “Haunted Histories,” and movies-of-the-week. Her feature film work includes appearances in “Johnny Handsome,” “Indecent Proposal,” and “Body Moves.”
Actress, singer, comedy hypnotist…Kellie Karl…all that talent wrapped up in one exceptional package!
What people are saying about Kellie Karl...
I have been a stage director for many years. I have worked with many performers and feel that I am a good judge of talent. From the first time that I saw Kellie, I knew she had something special. She is warm and charismatic, and totally disarming with her beautiful smile. Kellie has a true rapport with her audience. and a strong and powerful stage presence. Every time that I have seen Kellie perform her stage hypnosis show, it has been a real winner and the audience goes out loving her.
Joanie Spina
Stage Director and Choreographer
(choreographed 10 CBS David Copperfield TV specials)
I've seen Kellie on stage and I'm trying to resist the obvious and say she's "hypnotic". But she is captivating, enticing, fascinating, charming and wonderfully entertaining. I can and HAVE recommended her show to anyone headed for Vegas.
Farrell Hirsch
Executive Producer Playboy Radio Network
network TV writer, Broadway producer
I hired Kellie Karl to do her hypnosis show for MTV's My Super Sweet Sixteen. When Kellie started her show, all 250 teenagers rushed the stage screaming and begging to get hypnotized. Need I say more?
Carolyn Arthurs
Owner, All About Events, Los Angeles CA
Having worked all over the world with many well known entertainers, I have seen many shows and enjoy being entertained. I saw Kellie Karl's show in Las Vegas and she is an excellent Hypnotist who has convinced me that hypnosis is real. Her volunteers were hilarious and kept me laughing for the entire show. Definitely a show I would see again.
Richard Spina
Herman's Hermits
Sopranos Last Supper review
Another character of note is (Kellie Karl) the psychiatrist. She was wonderful in her role. She was both specific and comedic, and she found the right balance between reality and the character she plays.

Meeting of Minds Tonight!

Tonight Dave Marturano and Myself will be meeting tonight at our Famous Fazoli's Restaurant, our typical hot spot, to finalize the end of REAR VIEW. we meet once a week to go over changes, additions, and any new thoughts for the script as it nears the end. It has been awesome having him on board and helping me through the Pre-Production. I've already told him, not only is he going to be my BRUCE CAMBPELL, but he will be behind the scenes on all my productions as well. He brings the same fire and energy I do and it is fantastic to have back up like that. Anyway we will be hammering out the ending dialogue and action.
The other thing we will be working on is our new Web Series, that he will be starring in.. The Razor's Edge. Both of us are very excited and i have been pounding out Webisodes left and right. The first will be a double or triple webisode either 10 to 15 minutes long. want to lay the ground work for the characters and plot, then we can sail through webisodes like a bottle rocket. We really believe we have something that is fresh and new and will entertain as well as get your participation. So anyways bye for now..

DISTORTION - Search for a New Title!

Recently while creating our MYSPACE movie page, I came along another production being made right now, with the same title. There are way to many similarities with the title, age of the Director/Writer, and having a MYSPACE site ( No similarities in storyline ) to keep our name. I don't want this other Production and ours getting confused and building traffic and BUZZ for his Production. So for now ours has now taken on the title REAR VIEW.. With the slug line " Images in the Rear View are different than they appear! " It may stick and in fact we will have a poll on the site with several different choices and see what you all say! I think it works and the new MYSPACE SITE has this title as of now http://www.myspace.com/rearviewthemovie so check it out. This site will connect the Web Documentary and have all the Video's, Photo's, and the Diary from the Making, as well as all Trailers, Cast and Crew Bios, etc..
It is bare bones now, but by the end of the day will be almost completed and up to date for now..
Here are a couple of the alternative names..
Peripheral Vision
Blind Spot
Distorted
Blind Sided
Rear View

SPECIAL THANKS!
A person that I have regrettably forgotten to mention in the last posts has been one of our Producers, ROBERT SANCHEZ. His help in the making of the film has been huge. Not only is one of the Films three camera's his, big enough help there, but he has been doing much more behind the scenes. His Daughter will be shooting all of the behind the scenes footage alongside of my daughter as well, so I definitely wanted to mention him on this post. Thanks for everything and we will make you proud with the final product.

Final Rehearsals One Week Away!
Final rehearsals are coming up quick. The 22nd we will be choreographing the final fight scene, hammering out the dialogue to nail it down, and setting the stage for Principle Photography. It has been a rough ride throughout the entire production. We have had Cast and Crew in and out of the Production, and now are finally putting the final pieces together. Happy to see this part of the Production about to be finished. There are a couple of videos that will be uploaded here shortly. I wanted more of the inside look at that end, but time ran short. Principle Photography will not be a let down, this I promise you. It will be a very detailed look into the filming.
This is the part I think everyone wants to see more of anyway. We will shoot Behind the Scenes every day. Other Videos of the Pre-Production are coming, I want a bit of a sneak peak at the final fight scene uploaded, but not too much. There are a bunch of twists, that will not be revealed, but we can upload some. So stay tuned shortly for some updated content.

FARRLAND FILMS on Board!

Dr. Asad Farr with Actor Robert Miano
We are very lucky to have a new Executive Producer on board with DISTORTION. Dr. Farr, of Farrland Films is working hand in hand to get Distortion on the screen. He has become very instrumental in helping us find the last few pieces to our puzzle to get rolling and Shooting. He has been in the Film business for several years now and has Produced a number of Projects in that time frame. His Films have had starred the likes of Robert Miano, Scott Schwartz, Branscombe Richmond, Frank Stallone, Vanessa Ross, and Shane Brolly of Underworld I, II, and III which is in Post Production at this time. Dr Farr is a tremendous asset to us and we are very thankful for his help in getting DISTORTION off the ground.
We met earlier this year, through Ben Bachelder, and started work on AFTER DARK together. That film is slated to shoot directly after Distortion and we are looking forward to a long, very productive partnership with him. So WELCOME ABOARD Dr. Farr!

BAKED MIND Goes IndieGoGo!

Fantastic Website for the Indie Filmmaker
There is a website out there for those who are interested, that allows you to promote and try to raise funds for your film projects. We have just singed on, so we haven't had a chance really to test it out. But after looking at some of the many that are signed up, there are quite a few success stories coming out of it. It seems if you have a project that people deem worthy, you can hit a goal you set up for yourself. The coolest thing about the site is you can create VIP Packages for the level of Funding provided by people. You set it up anyway you want, with the exception that you cannot promise Profit Sharing. Below is a link to the site. If anyone wants to be a participant in this film, instead of just a viewer, please pick out a package and lets work together. On the top right of the site is a widget, that shows you what our goal is and how far from it we are. Keep an eye on it to see how fast we can hit our goal.
For the IndieGoGo.com website click here
Anyway, back to work... I am editing some more video for the site, and there will be a new one posted here shortly. TT everyone soon.

FLASHBACK -The Original
Here is an interesting flashback for everyone. I found footage from the original short film, shot in 2001 under the original title of ENIGMA. This version was shot on very low quality DV with a couple of very good actor/friends. We had a ton of fun shooting it and I did everything myself at this time. I was the cameraman, the Lighting Tech, The Director, an Actor in the film.. Yadda, Yadda, Yadda. It was a cool little trip back on memory lane, so I thought i would show you a couple of the decent shots from the film.
Hope you enjoyed it, TT you all a bit later,
David

DISTORTION - Pre-Production #12

A much needed breather was taken for the last week. The Production was racing forward with great momentum, the cast has been fantastic, the crew?.. Well, that's where the problem laid for a moment. Several Members were not so into the project, not because of the script, frankly I don't honestly know why. But this problem is now handled. A new AD in place has helped revitalized me and after a couple days of relaxing and getting refocused.. WE ARE BACK ON TRACK. There is a post for an opening on MANDY for a Lighting Tech, that we need to fill, besides this we are pressing forward. Sunday will officially put the wheels back on the cart. We are getting together to kind of state where we are, where we want to be, and get a couple of scenes blocked out.
Video #3 will be up this weekend as well, followed quickly by #4. As the Pre-Production gets back on track, here is a bit of an inside scoop on the storyline of the film...
DISTORTION: It is a Suspense/ Thriller in the style of Memento, but a bit more fast paced. It is primarily one location, the address below. Everything happens in the one night. A woman wakes up in a house on a stormy night, in complete darkness. She has total amnesia.. not knowing who she is, where she is, and why she has a gun in her hand. She tries to piece together what happened, through the darkness, finding more things that disturb and confuse her as the night goes on. When she comes upon the dead body, things get a lot more complex. Did she do this or is there someone or something else in the darkness with her. As the night plays out, everything starts to come back to her, and the reality of what happened and what she believes occurred... become two totally different events all together.
Stay tuned for this weekend!
